Weather cancellations and refund policy

Ridgeline Volleyball will always do our best to hold outdoor practices when it is safe and reasonable to do so. We know families plan around practice, and we want athletes to get as much time on the court or sand as possible. That said, player safety will always come first.

Rain vs. Unsafe Weather

Beach volleyball and other outdoor programs may continue in light rain, wind, or cooler weather. Rain alone does not automatically cancel practice.

Practice may be canceled, delayed, paused, or ended early due to unsafe conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Lightning or thunder

  • Severe weather warnings or nearby storm activity

  • Unsafe wind conditions

  • Heavy rain that makes the courts unsafe or unplayable

  • Smoke or poor air quality

  • Extreme heat

  • Facility closures

  • Any other condition Ridgeline determines could create an unsafe environment for players, coaches, or families

If lightning is seen, thunder is heard, or nearby lightning is detected, we will clear the courts immediately and will not resume activity until conditions are safe.

When Cancellation Decisions Are Made

We will make cancellation decisions as early as reasonably possible and communicate updates through our normal communication channels.

However, Montana weather can change quickly. Because of that, some decisions may be made shortly before practice or even after practice has already started. In certain cases, we may attempt to hold practice but end early if conditions become unsafe.

Families are always encouraged to use their own judgment. If Ridgeline holds practice but a family does not feel comfortable attending due to weather, we completely understand. However, player absences from a practice that is still held are not eligible for a refund or individual make-up.

Make-Up Practices

When Ridgeline cancels an outdoor practice due to weather or unsafe conditions, we will make reasonable efforts to offer a make-up opportunity when scheduling, facility availability, coaching availability, and program logistics allow.

Make-up practices are not guaranteed. In some cases, a make-up may be offered on a different day, at a different time, at a different location, or in a combined-group format.

If multiple weather cancellations occur during a season, Ridgeline may choose to offer additional make-up opportunities, bonus training sessions, account credits, or partial refunds at its discretion.

Refunds and Credits

For full-season outdoor program registrations, payment covers the overall program experience and reserved roster spot, not a guaranteed number of completed practices. Weather-related cancellations are not automatically refunded on a per-practice basis.

For drop-in registrations, if Ridgeline cancels practice before it begins, families will receive either a refund or a credit toward a future session.

If a drop-in session begins but is ended early due to weather, refunds or credits are not automatic. However, if practice is canceled within the first 30 minutes due to weather or unsafe conditions, Ridgeline may offer a credit or make-up option when reasonable and logistically possible.

If practice continues beyond the first 30 minutes and is later ended early due to weather, refunds or credits will generally not be offered, though Ridgeline may still choose to provide a make-up opportunity or credit at its discretion depending on the circumstances.

Ridgeline reserves the right to make final decisions regarding cancellations, make-ups, credits, and refunds in the best interest of player safety and program sustainability.

Our goal is always to be fair, transparent, and family-friendly while also making sure we never pressure players, coaches, or families to remain outdoors in unsafe conditions.
